Phase II Construction Underway!
The renovation of the existing library space is underway! Walls are down, windows are in and sheetrock is up in the new study area. The newly completed Community Room and Cafe are serving as the temporary circulation area, and the exciting new Family Center is coming to life with new shelves, computers and a fun new design to provide families a fun place to gather and enjoy everything the library has to offer.
Temporary Library Hours
Starting December 5th we will be open for these limited hours & services until further notice:
Monday/Wednesday/Thursday 4 – 7 PM
Tuesday/Friday/Saturday 10 – 1 PM
Yes you can place orders here or online and pick things up at this library during these hours.
Yes you can still get great staff help with questions.
Yes you can use the copy machine.
Yes please drop off Toys-4-Tots & Food Pantry items.
No library materials will be here to browse/borrow.
No public computers will be here during this time.
Book drops are still open during off hours.
We apologize for any inconvenience & look forward to continuing great services in the new library!

The new Family Center, Community Room, Cafe and offices are coming to life with a beautiful color scheme and design! Brilliant shades of purple, gold, bronze and green add warmth and fun to an exciting floor plan! Adult Library photos coming soon!
PHASE ONE IS MOVING AHEAD!
Demolition, framing and sheetrock are all underway as Phase One of the Expansion Project moves forward. The former court room will become a beautiful new Family Center, while the old offices will transform into new office space. The existing community room will get a fresh new look and be redesigned to allow for a great new cafe where you can use your laptop, enjoy a cup of coffee or wait for your kids while they attend a great program!
CONSTRUCTION NEWS
Construction has started! Board President Patty Atkinson and Library Director Patti Haar get the demolition started with a big swing! Working together with Architect Jim Lothrop and Meyer Contracting Corporation, a beautiful, cost effective design will transform the former Patterson Court and existing space into a wonderful place for the community to gather. New Community Room & Cafe, new Family Center, more public computers and comfortable quiet zones will all be part of the new design.
Library Expansion Update
Exciting Changes are Coming
- Construction to start in August
- Bids from contractors came in a bit high, so we made a few changes to our design and are in the process of a second round of bidding.
- When the bids are reviewed a contractor will be selected.
- Savings, grants , tax dollars and donations will cover a great portion of the project, the remainder is being financed through Putnam County Savings Bank.
- We will keep you updated with e-News and postings on our website and facebook page.
