Although we receive tax funds from the residents of the Town of Patterson to support library operations, gifts from our patrons allow us to expand our materials and services outside of what our operating budget allows, and provides an even greater impact on our users and the Patterson community.

Patterson Library is a 501(c)(3) organization and your contribution is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please note that all donations/gifts shall be deemed unrestricted and will be used for the general operating expenses and programs of the library where there is the greatest need unless donated to a specific campaign or program.

Matching Gifts
The Patterson Library is eligible to participate in many corporate matching gift programs, which can increase the value of your gift substantially. All matching gifts are included in total contributions for the year for recognition purposes. Please contact your Human Resources department for information about its matching gift policies and procedures.
Employee Giving Programs
The Patterson Library is on the list of eligible charities for many Employee Giving Programs that allow employees to designate the Library as the recipient of their charitable payroll deductions. Contact your Human Resources Department for information about your company’s policy.
Tribute Gifts
If you wish to make a memorial gift or a donation in honor of a birth, birthday, anniversary, etc., here are some options:
- Make a donation for a specific book, type of book, or subject. You may have a particular author or title in mind, or you may wish to get a “children’s book” chosen by library staff, or perhaps a new mystery in memory of someone who loved reading mysteries. Please check with the library staff, who can assist you in deciding what item is right for your needs.
- Sponsor a museum pass. Our museum passes range in price from $100 to $500 per pass per year.
- Underwrite a program or program series. Program costs can include both materials and presenter fees. Please speak with one of our programming staff members, who can provide information on what opportunities are available.
In all cases, we send a card to the family notifying them of the donation. Please include the family’s address if possible, as well as your name and address as you wish it to appear on the card. Bequests
A planned gift made through a will or trust to the Patterson Library is a gift that can help ensure the long-term financial stability of Patterson Library while providing you with the opportunity to become part of your library’s future. We would like to help you consider this kind of gift while planning for your long-term goals. All gifts are administered in strict compliance with the wishes of the donor. Please consult your tax advisor when considering this kind of gift.
Bequest Through Your Will: This is the simplest way to make a gift; you only have to add the following specific language to your will naming Patterson Library as a beneficiary: “I give, devise, and bequeath _________ (a certain sum, a percentage of the estate, or the remainder of the estate) to the Patterson Library, P.O. Box 418 – 1167 Route 311, Patterson, NY 12563 (A specific program may be designated.)
