The library Board of Trustees and library Director Patti Haar met to discuss goals and plans for the library in 2015 at their annual Blue Sky meeting. Board President Donald Ferraro led the event which included discussions about policies, the budget and the future of the library.
Thanks to the Patterson Library Friends, the library now has a state of the art public scanner. The scanner is one of several gifts donated to the library by the Friends group, which aims to support library services and programs through fundraising efforts. With a very successful first year of fundraising events that included the book sale and holiday ornament sale, the Friends were able to purchase new iPads for the Family Center, a brand new book drop at the Putnam Lake Market, and provide funding for the museum pass program as well as pay for enhancements to the community room. Our Community Room and Cafe got a beautiful makeover thanks to a generous donation from Pawling Corporation in Wassaic, NY. The commercial grade chairrail and wall protection system will keep our public spaces looking great for years to come!
The library has expanded services with a new digital collection website experience just for kids. The main MHLS Digital Download Collection now has a separate site to provide a safe and easy browsing experience for kids.
Libraries recognize the need to provide a safe environment for kids to browse library materials. Just as the children’s section of the physical library has its own place, the same experience is now available in the digital collection for kids eBooks and audiobooks. Browsing can be done by subject, reading level or interest level. Check out the Kid’s eReading Room.
