We have two special drives going on to help our neighbors in need. We are accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys for the Marine Corps Toys For Tots drive and non-perishable items for the Patterson Food Pantry in the vestibule during business hours. As always, we thank you for your generosity.
The library was buzzing with people Friday evening for the 3rd Annual Holiday Vendor Fair. Shoppers enjoyed a festive evening with holiday music, hot apple cider and wonderful treats from Blondie’s Deli while shopping for great deals on a wide variety of items including, hand knit hats, maple syrup, handbags, jewelry, organic dog treats, cosmetics and so much more. Area businesses including Pawling’s new gourmet olive oil store, Blue Olive and Good Tidings Gift Shop also provided great gift items with wonderful olive oils, vinegars, cozy slippers and scarves. Local authors signed books, and the newly formed Patterson Library Friends sold Christopher Radko collectible ornaments raising more than $500.00. Prizes donated by the vendors were raffled off with proceeds benefiting the Patterson Library Friends and other local charities.
The numbers are in. The book sale raised over $17,000 dollars, an all-time high! We truly appreciate all the community support! Thank you!
The library has expanded services with a new digital collection website experience just for kids. The main MHLS Digital Download Collection now has a separate site to provide a safe and easy browsing experience for kids.
Libraries recognize the need to provide a safe environment for kids to browse library materials. Just as the children’s section of the physical library has its own place, the same experience is now available in the digital collection for kids eBooks and audiobooks. Browsing can be done by subject, reading level or interest level. Check out the Kid’s eReading Room.
Enjoy a wonderful day outdoors at Patterson Library Park. The new grant funded lighting, patio, benches and beautiful landscaping make it the perfect destination to have a picnic, read a newspaper, take a coffee break, check out the veggies in the garden or just soak in the sun while the kids play life-size games.
