As the flowers bloom and the days grow warmer, we look forward to a May filled with fun happenings at our library. Whether you are looking to check out our museum pass to Olana, bring your family to the Touch-a-Truck event, or learn herb gardening and beekeeping--I hope you will join us in learning and connecting with one another at the library.

Olana State Historic Site is the latest edition to our museum pass collection! This pass admits two adults for landscape walking and historic house tours for free. Admission for children sixteen and under is free. The pass also grants holders a 15% discount in the Olana Museum Store.
Olana State Historic Site is located in Hudson, NY, and was originally owned by Frederic Edwin Church, a major figure in the Hudson River School art movement. Take a stroll through its over 250-acre landscape, specifically crafted by Church, or tour his unique home, a combination of Victorian architecture and Middle-Eastern motifs. Touch-A-Truck

Don't miss the Patterson Rotary's annual "Touch-A-Truck for Heroes" event at the Patterson Library and Patterson Firehouse on Saturday, June 8, from
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. The kids will love sitting in the driver's seat of the fire trucks, ambulances, construction rigs, and other big trucks. Plus, there will be food, music, a bubble bus, a petting zoo, horse-drawn carriage rides, and so much more.

Calpulli Mexican Dance Performance

Bring the family, a picnic dinner, blanket, or chair, and join us in our library park for a wonderful performance with the dancers from Calpulli Mexican Dance Company in a celebration of traditional Mexican dance and music! Enjoy the unique costuming and rhythms while learning about the history and culture of Mexico during this fun and interactive performance.
This program is made possible, in part, through the Putnam Arts Council’s Arts Link Grant Program with public funds provided through the NY State Council on the Arts with support from the Office of the Governor and the NY State Legislature.

Join us as we watch the wonderful French foreign film Driving Madeleine. Shown with subtitles, it is a beautiful story about an elderly woman forced to move into a nursing home and embarks on a journey with a taxi driver on her way to her care facility. The story of their friendship and her fascinating life unfolds as they visit the meaningful and memorable places of her life in her beloved city of Paris.

Herb Gardening

Herbalist Tamara Dumay will teach us the basics of seeding, transplanting, bed preparation, and soil testing for herbs. We will also learn the health benefits of each plant and how to create your home garden. Bring your gardening gloves and help us plant some herbs in our library garden. Adults 18+

Meditation Series

Relax and restore your body and mind in this guided meditation series with Terry Ariano. Begin to develop awareness of your reactive mind, and to practice mindfulness to bring calm into your daily life. We will explore breathing techniques to calm the body and meditate in both seated and reclining posture. Please bring a yoga mat and a cushion. Adults 18+

Movie Matinee: Arthur the King

Yoga Series

Try this fun yoga class for all levels of yoga practitioners in our beautiful outdoor park with Julia Calabrese-Harrer of Yoga in the Trees. She will lead us through meditation and movement for a new experience with this ancient practice. Please bring a yoga mat and a cushion. Adults 18+

Join our weekly Mahjong Drop-In Program at the Patterson Library every Friday morning from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM. Beginners and experienced players alike are invited to join the fun. Adults 18+

Flying Needles
Drop-In Program
Tuesdays @ 10:30 AM
Grab your knitting needles, crochet hooks, or favorite needlework, and enjoy a morning of stitching and chatting with other crafters at the library. This is a drop-in group that will meet every Tuesday.

Did you know we have several book clubs during the day? If you like to read, get together with people, and share your thoughts about what you've read, give us a call to join one of our book clubs. Pick up the book and contact the library at 845-878-6121 ext. 10 to join.

Virtual Parent Support Group
Fridays @ 11 AM on Zoom
Putnam County Libraries have teamed up to present a Parents Online Support Group. Please email beautifulmamas123@gmail.com to request an invitation to our weekly Zoom Meeting every Friday at 11 AM. The New Parents Support Group was initiated in 2014 and provides no-cost, professionally facilitated support groups for all who seek professional advice, peer companionship, and kind support. This warm and welcoming group is co-facilitated by Katherine Whiteside (CPD: CBI) and Dr. Rachel Lemonik (PsyD).

Maggie Flynn of Advocate Health Advisors will be here twice a month to answer questions about Medicare, Medicaid, and Veterans Health Benefits. Stop by with your general questions about how to get started with a plan or how to improve the plan you are in. Adults 18+
